Semester III Week# 15 Honors College Experience

On 12/13/2018 I spent two hours working on my application for the MBA program here at ETSU. I decided to take the time and use it for the reminder of my hours for collo. I think that going on to get my MBA is a wise decision. I do not think that I will return to school after I leave, so no leaving for me just yet. My plan is to obtain my MBA and then peruse my PhD in International Business. I do not know if the path I am taking will lead to that but that is my goal. I am making SMART goals in order to be more successful in my journey! This semester has not been easy to say the least but I have made it through.

Semester III Week#12 Honors College Experience

On Monday November 12th, 2018 I attended the second meeting of the semester for the Transfer Student Council from 5p.m. to 7p.m. At this meeting we had Jeffrey Alston, Director of University Career Services as a quest speaker. He want to meet with the committee to understand from a students perspective what knowledge we had of the services they offer. We also talked about ways to improve the knowledge of what University Career Services does. I learnt more of how they help student achieve their goals, even after becoming an Alumni. This brings my hours for Collo up to 28. I only have two more to complete my 30 hrs required.

Semester III Week#8 Honors College Experience

On Friday, October the 19th I helped with the deal is right game show put on by the ACTS department for transfer students. The event gave transfer and other college students the opportunity to come together and have some fun being social and winning some prizes. It was a game show setup like the price is right. It was fun to see students get so into the game and the host of the game show was crazy! The crowd was not that large, however their was two other events going on at the same time that prevented the desired turn out. I was here from 5p.m. till 9p.m. giving me four hours towards my requirements for Collo. This gives me a total of 26 hours out of the 30 due after this event. It was a fun event and was glad I could help with setting it up.

Semester III Week#8 Honors College Experience

On Thursday October the 18th, I helped set up for the Transfer Student Awareness Week for the ACTS Department. Tables was set up in the quad for the different offices that students can take advantage of while in their academic journey. I got at the venue at 9 a.m. and helped man the table until 11 a.m. then went to class and returned at 12:30 p.m. and helped till 1:30 p.m. This gives me three hours towards my total of 30 hours for my Collo Class. This event helped several students with questions regarding the different offices represented at the fair.

Semester III Week 5 Honors College Experience

On September the 27th, the Honors College hosted a potluck for the Honor Students. This event gave the Seniors time to get to know some of the other incoming Midways as well as other Honors Students from other Honors programs. This event was successful in the fact that there was lots of food to eat. The turn out was great, I was guess about 50 students attended. Its easy to get students involved when there is food involved! This counts for an hour of my time for Collo.

Semester III Week 4 Honors College Experience

On September 27th our Collo class held a meeting with a representative from IRB. The purpose was for the students that is writing their thesis that is gathering data from human subjects. The mission of the IRB board is to ensure that subjects are treated properly and are not subject to misconduct. This meeting was very informative as the person leading the meeting was my IRB Coordinator. I do realize that I am a bit behind in the process, so I am trying to finish my IRB x-file ASAP. I am hoping to be finished with it this week. I was at this meeting for an hour, which we was told if we attended then we would receive double time. This gave me two hours towards my total of 30 hours.

Semester III Week 4 Honors College Experience

One September 18 I sat in a Senate meeting for the Student Government Association. The reason for this meeting was to secure the funds need from Buc Funds for Tau Sigma's event coming up for National Transfer Week. The object for this event is to show Transfer student that they are not forgotten and are a very important part of ETSU. This meeting was for an hour. Although the funding was not secured at this meeting only because there was not enough SGA Senate members to hold official business. The meeting was rescheduled for the 25th of September. I was at this meeting for an Hour also. This counts for two of my hours for Collo.
