Semester IV Week 11 Honors College Experience

This week I added another 3.5 hours to my time, for a grand total 35.5 hours. The meditation has worked. I am no longer stressed with the things that are due. I take one assignment and focus on it without looking at just how many more things that I have left to do. My grades have shown a huge improvement. I am in a better place with my spirit. All is happy and good.

Semester IV Week 10 Honors College Experience

This week I added another 3.5 hours to my time for a grand total of 28 hours. I have been able to get to the place of happiness within myself by learning how to meditate. I am so glad that I made this my project this semester. I have became a better person, friend, student, and mentor. On April 4th I attended the Alpha Sigma Lambda Induction Ceremony. I was there from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. I had a speaking part and helped set up  for the event. This is a ceremony where new members go through the process of being told what the society is and finish by them taking the oath. There was a total of 7 people that was inducted. This gives a total of 32 hours towards the 30 hours of requirement. I am done with the required time.

Semester IV Week 9 Honors College Experience

This week I added another 3.5 hour to my time with a total of 24.5 hours. I focused this week on mediating on calming my spirit down. For awhile now, I have experienced the feeling of not being good enough. Although I know my worth, sometimes my head gets in the way of my heart. My head is constant battle of being good enough. My heart knows my value, but sometimes my head over runs my heart. I feel that these mediations are helping me become a stronger force to be reckoned with.

Semester IV Week 8 Honors College Experience

This week I add another 3.5 hours to my time, giving me 21 hours. I have noticed a huge change in the way that my school days are going, even my days at work with this new method of bring positivity into my life. I was feeling like every time I turned around I was getting attacked and/or having a bad day. Because I have been speaking positive thoughts into my days last week they are getting much better.

Semester IV Week 7 Honors College Experience

This week I decided to focus on bring happiness everyday into my life. I decided that everyday was going to be a great day. When I wake up in the morning, I say to myself today is going to be the best day that I have had. By speaking this into my life. I hope to change the negative emotions that I have been having this semester during class. This week was another 3.5 hours for a total of 17.5 hours.

Semester IV Week 6 Honors College Experience

This week I focused on others and how I play a role in not only making things happen for me but for every one around me. When you are in line and totally connected to the planet then you bring about change in others. Seeing is believing. When one sees that your different in a good way they want to know what and how you have changed. We are all just trying to make it the best way we know how through this thing called life. Do not be discouraged, everyone faces advertises. Turn that stumbling block into stepping stones. This week was another 3.5 hours for a total of 14 hours of the required 30.

Semester IV Week 5 Honors College Experience

I have added 3.5 more hours for a total of 10.5 of the requirement. This week I focused on bringing positive vibes within my daily routine. Everyone has the choice on whether to think positive or negative. I have gotten away from the positive thoughts and being drawn more to being negative about things. This week I focused on changing that and it has been a blessing. When you promote positive things that is what materialize.

Semester IV Week 4 Honors College Experience

I have added 3.5 more hours for a total of 7 hours of my requirements. After another week of meditating I have gotten a lot closer to my inner feeling and starting to see outward differences within my daily life. I am a great person who deserves love. I am blessed to have the people within my life helping and assisting me in my journey. I realize that I need to spend more time with my loved ones. Being a great person is not just about being successful your self but to ensure those around you are also successful.

Semester IV Week 3 Honors College Experience

For this semester I have decided to make my requirements for Collo Class about me and my mental well being. School has taken a lot out of me mentally and I am exhausted. I start my meditation this week. I have found 30 mins everyday to stop and be alone and focus on what is going on within my head and how I can change it. I have been feeling for while that I need to determine what is going on and how to change it. I know that I have not been spending time working on me. This has taken 3.5 of my hours. I felt better after each of my sessions. I am focusing on making great things materialize in my life. Like happiness, wealth, and positive influences.

Semester IV Week#2 Honors College Experience

This is my last semester for the honors college and my undergraduate degree. Because of this, I have decided to make this semester about making myself a better candidate for the MBA program here at ETSU (hopefully I will get accepted). Through out my experience here at ETSU I have put a lot of time and effort into making sure I was at my best to ensure I would be able to get college paid for. Because of all the hard work I have put in, I have forgot to take care of my mental health and sanity. I will using my hours this semester doing things that make me invest time in myself. I will be doing things from mediation to helping people in need. I will always have some volunteer time within these hours! I cannot only focus on me. I look forward to what all this semester has in store for me.

Semester III Week# 15 Honors College Experience

On 12/13/2018 I spent two hours working on my application for the MBA program here at ETSU. I decided to take the time and use it for the reminder of my hours for collo. I think that going on to get my MBA is a wise decision. I do not think that I will return to school after I leave, so no leaving for me just yet. My plan is to obtain my MBA and then peruse my PhD in International Business. I do not know if the path I am taking will lead to that but that is my goal. I am making SMART goals in order to be more successful in my journey! This semester has not been easy to say the least but I have made it through.

Semester III Week#12 Honors College Experience

On Monday November 12th, 2018 I attended the second meeting of the semester for the Transfer Student Council from 5p.m. to 7p.m. At this meeting we had Jeffrey Alston, Director of University Career Services as a quest speaker. He want to meet with the committee to understand from a students perspective what knowledge we had of the services they offer. We also talked about ways to improve the knowledge of what University Career Services does. I learnt more of how they help student achieve their goals, even after becoming an Alumni. This brings my hours for Collo up to 28. I only have two more to complete my 30 hrs required.

Semester III Week#8 Honors College Experience

On Friday, October the 19th I helped with the deal is right game show put on by the ACTS department for transfer students. The event gave transfer and other college students the opportunity to come together and have some fun being social and winning some prizes. It was a game show setup like the price is right. It was fun to see students get so into the game and the host of the game show was crazy! The crowd was not that large, however their was two other events going on at the same time that prevented the desired turn out. I was here from 5p.m. till 9p.m. giving me four hours towards my requirements for Collo. This gives me a total of 26 hours out of the 30 due after this event. It was a fun event and was glad I could help with setting it up.

Semester III Week#8 Honors College Experience

On Thursday October the 18th, I helped set up for the Transfer Student Awareness Week for the ACTS Department. Tables was set up in the quad for the different offices that students can take advantage of while in their academic journey. I got at the venue at 9 a.m. and helped man the table until 11 a.m. then went to class and returned at 12:30 p.m. and helped till 1:30 p.m. This gives me three hours towards my total of 30 hours for my Collo Class. This event helped several students with questions regarding the different offices represented at the fair.

Semester III Week 5 Honors College Experience

On September the 27th, the Honors College hosted a potluck for the Honor Students. This event gave the Seniors time to get to know some of the other incoming Midways as well as other Honors Students from other Honors programs. This event was successful in the fact that there was lots of food to eat. The turn out was great, I was guess about 50 students attended. Its easy to get students involved when there is food involved! This counts for an hour of my time for Collo.

Semester III Week 4 Honors College Experience

On September 27th our Collo class held a meeting with a representative from IRB. The purpose was for the students that is writing their thesis that is gathering data from human subjects. The mission of the IRB board is to ensure that subjects are treated properly and are not subject to misconduct. This meeting was very informative as the person leading the meeting was my IRB Coordinator. I do realize that I am a bit behind in the process, so I am trying to finish my IRB x-file ASAP. I am hoping to be finished with it this week. I was at this meeting for an hour, which we was told if we attended then we would receive double time. This gave me two hours towards my total of 30 hours.

Semester III Week 4 Honors College Experience

One September 18 I sat in a Senate meeting for the Student Government Association. The reason for this meeting was to secure the funds need from Buc Funds for Tau Sigma's event coming up for National Transfer Week. The object for this event is to show Transfer student that they are not forgotten and are a very important part of ETSU. This meeting was for an hour. Although the funding was not secured at this meeting only because there was not enough SGA Senate members to hold official business. The meeting was rescheduled for the 25th of September. I was at this meeting for an Hour also. This counts for two of my hours for Collo.

Semester III Week#3 Honors College Experience

On September the 14, I was part of a student panel for the Department of Education's Online Retreat. I sat on three different panels. Each was the same student panel but a different set of faculty.  I was asked by the Honors College to participate. I agreed. The panel was insight for faculty because it gave them the students perspective on online classes. The students was asked questions about engagement, thing we liked and disliked, and was asked for any ideas they we may have to better their classes. The panel ended up more of a debate, but I think this was very helpful for the faculty there because it let them see us voice concerns about different side of the story. Now they can better structure their class to ensure student are better engaged and ending with better grades. It was nice being on this panel. I was the only undergrad there, so that was a bit crazy. I held my ground though and was well received. It was amazing to be part of something that produce...

Semester III Week#3 Honors College Experience

On September the 13th I went and set in a meeting for Student Organization Orientation for Alpha Sigma Lambda. This is a Honor Society here at ETSU for adult learners. Being a transfer and an adult learning, I sometimes feel as though these groups are sweep under the rug and forgot about. However, ETSU does not do that. This orientation is mandatory for any student organization. It goes over the rules and activities that our clubs are and are not allowed to do. It was interesting because I learned about so many tools that are available to our clubs. These tools ensure that organizations have what they need to succeed. I was there from 9:00a.m. till 10:00a.m. Because of this meeting I am better prepared for my  year as President of Tau Sigma.

Semester III Week#1 Honors College Experience

On Saturday August the 25th I attended Preview as a Student Ambassador. Preview is a weekend set aside for incoming freshman and transfer student to come to our campus and get to know each other and get some things finalized before the start of school. I was there from 7:30a.m. till 4:30p.m. I was able to walk around with the transfer group of students and make sure they was where they needed to be. I also was able to explain to them some insight as to how different things work at ETSU.  Like to get at school at least 30 mins before class starts to allow time to find a parking space. This event was very helpful for the student. It gave them the opportunity to become familiar with some faces that they will see around campus, plus it gave them a chance to become familiar with where their classes would be. I did not realize just how much I know about my school. It is amazing to be part of such a successful school. Go Bucs!!
