Week# 6 Honors College Experience

On October 11,2017 I attended my first culinary committee meeting. The meeting lasted an hour. We was informed of some changes to be on the look out for among the food court on campus. We also discussed some important topics that plays an important role in aiding Sodexo control top performance within their division. It gives me another chance to give back to the same community that has given so much to me. I cannot discuss the details of what exactly it is that I do. How ever it has given me the opportunity to grow in another form of leadership. I am truly blessed for the life that I have been given. It is one full of growth and knowledge. My time up to this point with the Honors College has been an experience that I would not trade for the world. If you are interested in a life changing opportunity, give the high road a chance and apply yourself. Hard work and determination will always pay off.

Week#5 Honors College Experience: What do I value?

on September 29,2017 our collo class had our meeting for the week. during this meeting we discussed what our values was and which of them was the most important to us as individuals in the world. I boiled the things I find valuable down to happiness and honesty. I choose these because I feel that in order to be of any good to any thing or any one, I must first be happy within myself so that can radiate outwards. Then I choose being honest because I think that if people would just be honest the world might be a better happier place. It seems that in todays society we are so quick to tell little white lies that appear to be harmless, and normally are, however this has made room for it to be not as big of a deal to tell more relevant lies, which do harm. It seems as though we are letting our standards fall. It makes me feel good to know that not only do I have great values but I also live by them. I am by no means perfect but I do strive to be as perfect as I can be. This is one of the ma

Week# 5 Honors College Experience Part III

On Thursday September 28 after getting out of Foundations of Research class. a few of us walked out talking and realized that there was something going on for International Peace Day. We went over and seen what all the fuss was about. Huge sounds was coming from speakers set up in the Amphitheater beside of  the Culp. It was very relaxing to be able to get away from the stress of always having something to do for school. We got to socialize with other students and get to know others. During our time there I was able to stop and think about the event and what it was about. Being able to know that in many other places on earth a group of many is thinking about peace in this world. It is not something that is impossible, it will just taking a major shift in the thought process of the inhabitants of the earth. The world is worth fighting for.

Week# 5 Honors college Experience Part II

On Wednesday September 27, 2017 I was ask by Alpha Beta Iota Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Walters State Community College in Morristown, TN. to be a quest speaker along side Karla Leybold from ETSU. Karla introduced the chapter to the Honors College and the programs we offer. I talked about the specifics of being a Midway Scholar recipient. I was glad to have done this because the of the feed back from the chapters advisor and president. I also offered my email and personal cell phone number for all students that was interested in becoming a Buccaneer. That way they have a direct link to someone that has been through the experience of transferring into the Honors College here at ETSU. This is one of many ways that I am able to give back freely, what has been freely given unto me. The meeting lasted an hour.

Week # 5 Honors College Experience Part I

The Student Transfer Committee meet on Monday September 25, 2017. We had a quest speaker from the school that talked about ways to be evolved on campus. He also revealed the new design for the Culp on campus. We learned of several different ways of staying informed as to upcoming events on campus. For instance the calendar, through email, and by flyers. We also voted on the design of our committee's new shirt. I was impressed by how sleek they will turn out. We also discussed how our committee could be more involved on campus and where we could make a difference in new student transfers.  Several different ideas came up and a few sub-committees were formed. I am one of the Student Ambassador. We will be paring up with incoming transfer student that would like to have a more in depth transfer experience. Along with working with other groups on campus that may need a lending hand. All of these different sub-committees should help build a better foundation for incoming transfer studen
